Privacy Policy
Transparency about your information.
This policy explains how AnyWeather processes personal information when you browse, create an account, join the mailing list, buy a gift voucher, place an order or contact us.
Status: Pre-launch draft, updated 17 August 2026
1. Responsible party and contact
The merchant operating AnyWeather is the responsible party for the personal information described here. Its remaining legal particulars must be completed before public launch.
Information Officer: Philip Parker
Privacy and data-rights email: sales@anyweather.co.za
2. Personal information we collect
- Account and identity information: name, email, telephone number, password-derived authentication data and account activity.
- Order and delivery information: cart contents, billing and delivery addresses, order history, delivery instructions, waybill or tracking details, returns and support history.
- Payment information: payment amount, status, provider and transaction reference. Full card details are handled by the payment provider and are not stored by AnyWeather.
- Marketing information: name, email, consent time, source page, discount code, email-send status and opt-out state.
- Gift voucher information: purchaser and recipient names, recipient email, personal message, value and voucher code.
- Communications: messages and information you send when requesting support or suggesting a product.
- Technical information: IP address, browser and device information, security logs, cookie identifiers and basic usage events. Analytics events are collected only after consent.
3. Where information comes from
We collect information directly from you, automatically from your device when needed to operate or secure the store, from a gift-voucher purchaser who provides recipient details, and from service providers involved in payment, delivery or fraud prevention.
4. Why we process information
- Provide accounts, carts, checkout, orders, delivery and returns.
- Process payments, refunds and transaction records.
- Deliver gift vouchers and requested promotional codes.
- Respond to support requests and product suggestions.
- Secure the store, prevent abuse and diagnose faults.
- Send marketing where you have consented and keep an opt-out record.
- Measure store performance through GA4 only after analytics consent.
- Meet tax, accounting, consumer-protection and other legal duties.
Depending on the activity, processing is necessary to perform a contract with you, comply with law, pursue a legitimate operational or security interest, or act on your consent.
5. Direct marketing
Marketing email is optional. The launch-list and account forms record consent before issuing the 10% code. Every marketing email must provide an opt-out route, and you may also opt out by emailing sales@anyweather.co.za. Transactional account, order, delivery and security messages may still be sent when needed to provide the service.
6. Cookies and analytics
Essential cookies maintain region selection, carts, authentication, account verification and security. GA4 is disabled unless you accept analytics cookies. You can change this choice at any time. Details appear in our Cookie Policy.
7. Service providers and disclosures
We share only what is reasonably necessary with providers that help operate the store. Current or intended provider categories include:
- Railway for backend hosting, database and private storage.
- Vercel for storefront hosting and delivery.
- Resend for transactional and consented marketing email.
- PayFast for hosted payment processing once enabled.
- Google Analytics for consented site measurement once configured.
- Selected South African delivery and fulfilment providers.
We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect people or systems, or as part of a lawful business transfer. We do not sell personal information.
8. Processing outside South Africa
Some technology providers may process information outside South Africa. We take reasonable steps to use providers, contracts and safeguards that support an adequate level of protection as required by section 72 of POPIA.
9. Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose collected, including completing orders, supporting warranties, resolving disputes, preventing fraud and meeting tax, accounting or legal obligations. Marketing records are kept while consent remains active and as needed to honour opt-outs. Information is then deleted or de-identified where reasonably practicable.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, including encrypted connections, access controls, private storage and separated production credentials. No online system can be completely secure. Use a unique password and notify us promptly about suspected account misuse.
11. Children
This store is not intended for children to use independently. A parent or legal guardian should assist anyone under 18 with an account or purchase. We do not knowingly use children’s information for marketing.
12. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may ask whether we hold your personal information and request access, correction or deletion; object to certain processing; or withdraw consent. Email sales@anyweather.co.za. We may ask for reasonable proof of identity before acting.
If we cannot resolve a privacy concern, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa. Access-to-record requests are described in our PAIA Manual.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the store, providers or legal obligations change. The date above identifies the latest version. Material changes will be highlighted or communicated where required.
